Creating space for both the light and dark parts of you to live in harmony
nice to meet you
Michelle Allison, BASc (Food & Nutrition)
Registered Dietitian Ontario

I'm a Registered Dietitian who specializes in helping people make peace with food, exercise, and their bodies, even when weight stigma and health concerns make it hard. I've been interested in eating behaviour and nutrition since my late teens, when I witnessed friends and family members struggling with guilt around food, shame about their weight, dieting, compulsive eating, and pressure to exercise in a way that stripped movement of joy.

I soon experienced this struggle myself, when I tried dieting to lose weight, only to feel more confused and unhappy with my eating, exercise, and body image. I sought help through therapy and a Registered Dietitian utilizing a non-diet, Health at Every Size(r) approach based on the Satter Eating Competence Model, and was soon able to re-experience the joy of feeding myself without guilt, moving my body for pleasure and well-being, and existing in a larger body with peace (and sometimes even pride.)

professional expertise
credentials
I'm a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO.) I received my accredited degree (BASc) in Food & Nutrition from Toronto Metropolitan University.
While completing my degree, I worked at University Health Network as a diet technician assisting RDs in all clinical areas, with a focus on diabetes, oncology, and eating disorders.

I also attended the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics-approved Treating the Dieting Casualty workshop, where I learned how to teach clients the eating skills of the Satter Eating Competence Model.
After graduating, I completed my dietetic internship with Aramark Canada, which included rotations at Mount Sinai, Sunnybrook, Centenary, and Humber River hospitals in Toronto, covering a broad range of clinical areas from IBD to mental health and addictions. I've subsequently worked at Mount Sinai as a clinical dietitian covering general medicine, and in private practice using the Health at Every Size(r) framework.
